Preparing for Umrah is a journey of the heart. For many UK Muslims, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip. And let’s be honest—having the right umrah dua list gives you peace of mind. You want to feel close to Allah every step, not worried about missing a prayer or not knowing what to say.
If you want help planning your Umrah, our Noor Umrah Travels team is just a call away. We’ve helped thousands from London, Manchester, Birmingham, and across the UK start their journey with confidence.
Why Are Duas So Important During Umrah?
Dua—heartfelt prayer—is the essence of Umrah. Every step you take in Makkah is a chance to ask Allah for forgiveness, mercy, and blessings.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Dua is worship." (Jami at-Tirmidhi 3371) And during Umrah, you’re not just any guest—you’re a guest of Allah Himself.
So before you travel from the UK, write down your personal duas. Make a list for your family, friends, parents, and anything else dear to your heart. Don’t worry if you can’t memorise every word. Allah hears every language and every whisper.

Dua for Entering the State of Ihram
Ihram is the sacred state you enter before starting Umrah. For most UK flights, the Miqat (boundary for Ihram) is announced about 1.5-2 hours before landing in Jeddah or Madinah. Listen for the announcement—don’t miss it!

How Many Times Should You Read the Talbiyah?
There’s no fixed number. You start the Talbiyah as soon as you enter Ihram—usually after the Miqat is announced on your flight from London, Birmingham, or Manchester. Keep reciting until you reach Masjid al-Haram and begin Tawaf. Men say it out loud, women say it softly.
If you’re unsure, ask your group leader or your Umrah travel agency. Our team at Noor Umrah Travels can talk you through it before you depart.
Dua When Entering Masjid al-Haram
As you approach the Grand Mosque, pause at the gate. Enter with your right foot and say:

O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.
Reference
Sahih Muslim 713
This is the Sunnah for entering any masjid, but how much more special is it here? Take a moment. Breathe. You’ve made it.
Dua When You First See the Kaaba
That first sight of the Kaaba is unlike anything else. Your heart may race. Many people think there’s a single fixed dua here, but the truth is—there isn’t one specific dua from the Prophet (peace be upon him) for this moment.
So what do you do? Say “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest). Then, pour out your heart. Ask Allah for whatever you wish—guidance, forgiveness, blessings for your family. It’s a powerful time for personal dua, and many scholars say prayers are especially accepted here.
Duas for Tawaf – All 7 Rounds
Let’s clear up a big myth: there are no compulsory fixed duas for each round of Tawaf. Many books give a separate dua for every circuit, but none of these are from the Sunnah.
What matters? You start each round at the Black Stone with “Bismillah, Allahu Akbar”. You end each round at the same point. In between, you can recite any Quran, dhikr, or personal prayer.
There is one special Sunnah dua: between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, say “Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaban-nar.”
Dua at the Black Stone – Start of Each Round
Dua at the Black Stone

Reference
Quran 2:201 (quran.com), Sahih al-Bukhari 6389, Sahih Muslim 1264
Can You Make Dua in Any Language During Tawaf?
Absolutely. You don’t need to worry if you can’t speak Arabic. Use any language for your personal duas. The main thing is sincerity—Allah understands every tongue.
For Sunnah dhikr and short phrases, Arabic is best if you’re able. But heartfelt dua matters most.
| Location | What to Say (Transliteration) | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Start (Black Stone) | Bismillah, Allahu Akbar | Sunnah |
| Between Yemeni Corner & Black Stone | Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan... | Quranic |
| Other parts of Tawaf | Any dhikr, Quran, or personal dua | Open |

Dua at Maqam Ibrahim – After Completing Tawaf
After seven rounds, pray two rakah behind Maqam Ibrahim (the Station of Ibrahim) if space allows. There’s no fixed dua here. Recite Surah Al-Kafirun and Surah Al-Ikhlas if you wish (Sahih Muslim 1218).

Dua for Drinking Zamzam Water

Duas for Sa'i – Between Safa and Marwah

Dua While Walking Between Safa and Marwah
There’s no compulsory dua for the walk itself. You can make any dhikr, recite Quran, or ask for what’s in your heart. Many UK pilgrims use this time to pray for their families back home.
How Many Laps for Sa'i?
It’s always 7 laps—start at Safa, finish at Marwah. Don’t worry, you’ll see clear signs and staff who can help if you’re unsure.
Dua After Completing Umrah
Once you finish Sa’i, men shave or trim their hair, women trim a fingertip length. Here’s a dua for this step:
Dua When Shaving/Trimming
Arabic
Transliteration
Allahumma-ghfir lil-muhalliqeen. Allahumma-ghfir lil-muhalliqeen. Allahumma-ghfir lil-muqassireen.
Translation
O Allah, forgive those who shave their heads. O Allah, forgive those who shave their heads. O Allah, forgive those who trim their hair.
